Red Bull X-Alps kicks off with a one-day Prologue on Thursday, June 12, 11:00 (CEST) with the main race beginning on Sunday, June 15 at 11:30. It finishes 12 days later, on June 27.
Prologue celebrates 10 years
This edition marks the 10-year anniversary of the first ever Prologue. First introduced in 2015 the Prologue is a 37km one-day hike and fly battle starting at 11:00 on June 12. It’s a fast and furious display of mountain running and flying around Kitzbühel – Kirchberg – and a great opportunity to see the athletes in action. Check out the Prologue route here.
Live Broadcasts
Former athlete Gavin McClurg, who came third in the original 2015 Prologue, is today the co-host of the daily YouTube live show broadcast at 21:00 from June 15 – June 27. The Prologue will also be broadcast live on June 12 from 10:50 on YouTube.
Two athletes retire
- Philipp Haag (GER3) has retired after a paragliding accident left him with a back injury. Although he’s making a good recovery, he won’t be fit enough to take part in the 2025 edition.
- Tom de Dorlodot (BEL1) earlier announced his withdrawal due to complications resulting from a kiting accident in 2024 that left him with a broken leg. However, the veteran athlete, who has taken part in every edition since 2007, will be in Kitzbühel to follow the race and will contribute to media coverage throughout.
How to follow the race
The start in the Kitzbühel town center and Turnpoint 1 Hahnenkamm are the best places to watch the action in person when the main race starts at 11:30 on June 15. Spectators can then follow all the action via the 3D Live Tracking feature on redbullxalps.com. It offers a truly unique and immersive 3D experience which lets the audience experience the viewpoint of athletes as they fly through the mountains. A guide to following the race can also be found on our Instagram channel. Spectator info can also be found here.

Trophies
This year the winner trophies have been designed by the Mexican artist Juan Corral, a well-known figure in the free flying community. His handmade trophies, which are unique and designed with sustainable materials, are highly sought after and are a worthy reward for athletes standing on the podium of the world’s toughest adventure race.

About Red Bull X-Alps
Red Bull X-Alps is the world’s toughest adventure race. It’s a fiercely contested battle across the Alps lasting almost two weeks in which around 30 athletes run, hike and fly by paraglider up to 150km a day passing set Turnpoints positioned across the highest and most iconic mountains of the Alps as well as in famous resorts. With athletes often hiking up to 4,000m of vertical ascent each day and running as much as 100km on foot, it’s not only an incredible test of physical endurance but also of flying skill.
Red Bull X-Alps is the ultimate test of body and mind and only open to the world’s best adventure athletes and paraglider pilots.
Red Bull X-Alps was founded in 2003 by the late adventurer Hannes Arch and has taken place every two years since then. The 2025 edition is the 12th edition of the race. Every edition since 2009 has been won by the Swiss athlete Christian Maurer, or ‘Chrigel the Eagle’ as he has become known to the race’s legion of fans and followers.
